Cystatin C is a low-molecular-weight cysteine protease inhibitor encoded by the CST3 gene and routinely used as a circulating biomarker of glomerular filtration rate. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets human cystatin C and is supplied as a 100 µl unconjugated aliquot validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence detection. In Western blot, the antibody recognizes the roughly 13 kDa monomer, supporting studies of renal physiology, amyloid angiopathy, and neurodegeneration where altered cystatin C expression has been documented. For immunofluorescence, the polyclonal format provides flexibility across minor epitope variations and produces consistent signal in fixed cell preparations. Short-term handling calls for refrigerated storage, with aliquoting recommended to limit freeze-thaw exposure of the active antibody.
