Citrate Synthase (CS) is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the condensation of acetyl-CoA with oxaloacetate to form citrate, the first committed step of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. Because its expression scales with mitochondrial content, CS detection is widely used as a loading control in Western blot analyses of respiratory chain subunits and as a marker for mitochondrial mass in immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry workflows on cultured cells and tissue sections.

This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µl vial. The antibody has been validated for reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, covering the principal species used in metabolic and mitochondrial research. The polyclonal format offers epitope diversity useful when probing denatured lysates in WB, fixed sections in IHC, and subcellular localization by IF, and the glycerol-containing formulation supports storage at -20 °C with minimal freeze-thaw damage for routine benchtop handling.
