This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets Crystallin-αB (alpha-B crystallin, also known as CRYAB or HSPB5), a small heat shock protein that functions as a molecular chaperone in lens tissue, cardiac and skeletal muscle, and the central nervous system. Raised in rabbit, the reagent recognizes an epitope centered on serine 41 (S41), a phosphorylation site implicated in stress response signaling and cytoskeletal remodeling.

Supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (pH ~7.2) with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, the unconjugated antibody is provided as a 50 µl vial suitable for immunohistochemistry workflows on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections. It has been validated for detection of the human, mouse, and rat orthologs, enabling cross-species tissue surveys of Crystallin-αB expression in normal and pathological samples, including cataract lens, desmin-related myopathy, and certain neurodegenerative lesions.

Researchers commonly apply this reagent to map chaperone redistribution under heat, oxidative, or ischemic stress, and to probe CRYAB involvement in protein aggregation diseases and cardiomyopathies. The polyclonal format supports robust signal across the conserved regions surrounding the S41 residue.
