Anti-CRP Antibody [67A1]

This Mouse monoclonal antibody (clone 67A1), available from Antibodies.com, specifically recognises human C-reactive protein (CRP). It is validated for ELISA and is supplied unconjugated in lyophilised form for reconstitution with double distilled water.

The reagent is raised in mouse, has an IgG1 isotype, and was generated against purified CRP from human pleural fluid. It is purified by Protein G affinity chromatography and formulated as a lyophilised powder in 0.01M Phosphate Buffered Saline, pH 7.0. According to the manufacturer, this antibody does not cross-react with human normal serum proteins. The product is shipped at 4°C and should be aliquoted and stored at -20°C, with freeze/thaw cycles avoided.

C-reactive protein is an acute phase protein composed of five identical 23kDa subunits. Its serum levels rise rapidly in response to inflammation, trauma, and infection, and it is primarily produced by hepatocytes under stimulation by cytokines including IL-6 and TNF-α. Elevated CRP is implicated in bacterial infection, autoimmune diseases, trauma, and post-surgical complications, and higher baseline levels have been associated with increased disposition to cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke.
