Anti-CPT1A Antibody

The Antibodies.com affinity-purified polyclonal reagent targets carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A), the liver-predominant isoform of the outer-mitochondrial-membrane enzyme that catalyses the rate-limiting transfer of long-chain acyl groups to carnitine for import into the matrix and subsequent β-oxidation. Each vial contains 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS supplemented with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, supplied unconjugated for direct labelling or secondary detection.

Validated applications include western blot of the approximately 88 kDa band from liver, kidney, and oxidative-tissue lysates, immunohistochemistry on paraformaldehyde-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, and immunofluorescence on cultured cells where the characteristic mitochondrial reticular pattern is readily visualised. The antibody has been confirmed reactive against human, mouse, and rat CPT1A, making it practical for comparative studies of hepatic lipid flux, fasting and refeeding responses, and rodent models of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and insulin resistance, where CPT1A abundance is a sensitive readout of mitochondrial fatty-acid handling.

Recommended starting dilutions are approximately 1:500–1:2000 for western blot and 1:50–1:200 for IHC and IF, with optimisation against the user's own sample preparation. Because the polyclonal format presents multiple epitope specificities, it is well suited to detecting truncated constructs or processed forms of the protein in overexpression systems. Storage at -20 °C in single-use aliquots is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and the vial should be protected from light; the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant keeps the formulation liquid at working freezer temperatures.
