Raised in rabbit against the carboxypeptidase A1 (CPA1) zymogen, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. The unconjugated antibody recognizes the pancreatic zinc metalloexopeptidase that acinar cells synthesize and store as an inactive proenzyme within zymogen granules, becoming activated in the duodenal lumen where it cleaves C-terminal aromatic and branched-chain residues from dietary peptides and proteins.

Validated for western blot detection in lysates derived from human, mouse, and rat tissue, the reagent supports studies of exocrine pancreas biology, zymogen activation kinetics, and digestive enzyme regulation. The 50 ul pack size provides sufficient volume for dozens of mini-gel blots at typical working dilutions, and the unconjugated format permits downstream pairing with user-selected secondary antibodies and detection chemistries, including HRP, alkaline phosphatase, or fluorescent conjugates. Researchers investigating pancreatic acinar-to-ductal metaplasia, hereditary pancreatitis-linked variants, or recombinant expression of CPA1 in heterologous systems will find this reagent useful for confirming protein-level expression.

For short-term use, keep the vial refrigerated between experiments and protect from light; the included sodium azide serves as a preservative against microbial contamination. Aliquoting is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the glycerol-free PBS formulation. The reagent is intended for research use only and has not been validated for clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic applications.
