The Antibodies.com polyclonal reagent targets Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 8A (COX8A), a nuclear-encoded inner mitochondrial membrane subunit of respiratory chain complex IV. This small protein participates in electron transfer and proton translocation during oxidative phosphorylation. Raised in rabbit, the affinity-isolated antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (approximately pH 7.2) containing 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative.

Validated for Western blot detection of endogenous COX8A in human, mouse, and rat samples, the reagent suits studies of mitochondrial biogenesis, complex IV assembly, and respiratory capacity in cultured cell lysates and tissue homogenates. Because the mature target is a small subunit that migrates near the dye front on standard SDS-PAGE, transfer conditions should be optimized to retain the polypeptide on the membrane. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes across the denatured target, which can improve signal robustness. Unconjugated output provides flexibility to pair with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary antibodies chosen by the researcher.

The 100 µl liquid volume is ready for dilution into standard blocking and incubation buffers. Store refrigerated in the supplied formulation and aliquot to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can erode polyclonal binding activity over time.
