Raised in rabbit against cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7B (COX7B), this polyclonal primary antibody targets a small nuclear-encoded subunit of mitochondrial respiratory chain Complex IV that contributes to oxidative phosphorylation and ATP generation in the inner mitochondrial membrane.

The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot detection of COX7B in human, mouse, and rat samples. It is used to investigate mitochondrial bioenergetics, Complex IV assembly, and the molecular basis of linear skin defects with multiple congenital anomalies (LSDMCA), a developmental disorder linked to COX7B loss-of-function mutations. Researchers studying tissue-specific mitochondrial isoform usage, including the closely related COX7B2 paralog, also employ this reagent to benchmark subunit composition changes in different metabolic states.

Each vial contains 100 µl of purified antibody at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.3, ready for direct immunoblotting workflows with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies. The polyclonal format increases the chance of recognizing multiple epitopes on the COX7B polypeptide, which is helpful when probing subtle expression changes across tissues.

Refrigerate on arrival and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity; sodium azide in the buffer provides microbial protection during routine laboratory handling. The reagent is intended for research use only and is quality controlled by Antibodies.com.
