A mouse monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com raised against Cytochrome c Oxidase Subunit 4 (COX4), a nuclear-encoded subunit of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane. Clone 5B9 is supplied as a purified immunoglobulin in 100 µl of 0.1 M Tris-Glycine buffer (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.2% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant.

The unconjugated reagent is validated for western blot detection of the subunit across human, mouse, and rat samples, providing a reference marker for mitochondrial loading normalization alongside cytoplasmic and nuclear markers in subcellular fractionation studies. The sodium azide-containing formulation supports refrigerated storage of working aliquots, with longer-term freezer stability preserved by the 50% glycerol component. As a mouse host antibody, it is compatible with common anti-mouse secondary reagents and standard chemiluminescent detection workflows.

Researchers studying oxidative phosphorylation, mitochondrial biogenesis, apoptosis-related mitochondrial release, or comparative mitochondrial content between tissues can use this clone to confirm equal mitochondrial loading in lysates prepared by differential centrifugation. Each vial contains enough reagent for multiple blotting experiments depending on dilution, and the unconjugated format allows pairing with user-preferred reporter systems.
