Polyclonal rabbit antibody raised against human Cortisol Binding Globulin (CBG), also called transcortin and encoded by the SERPINA6 gene. This unconjugated primary reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 100 µL per vial and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) workflows. CBG is a secreted serine protease inhibitor family member produced mainly by hepatocytes; it binds circulating cortisol and other glucocorticoids in plasma, modulating the bioavailability of free hormone to peripheral tissues. Antibodies of this kind support research on HPA-axis regulation, stress physiology, glucocorticoid transport, hepatic gene expression, inflammatory signalling, and SERPINA6 mutations that underlie hereditary CBG deficiency, and they can be used to detect endogenous protein in cell lysates by WB or to localise the antigen in tissue sections by IF. Reported reactivity is Human, so the antibody is best suited to work on human-derived material; cross-reactivity with mouse, rat, or other species has not been independently confirmed and should be verified empirically before use.
