Phosphorylation at tyrosine 421 on cortactin, a branched F-actin scaffolding protein, is widely used as a downstream readout of Src-family kinase activity in studies of cytoskeletal remodeling, invadopodia assembly, and tumor cell invasion. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against the cortactin phospho-Y421 epitope and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting signal-transduction, cell-motility, and cancer-biology research.

Supplied at 100 µl volume and 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the antibody is convenient for detecting the ~80 kDa phosphoprotein band on western blots and for localizing phospho-cortactin-rich structures at invadopodia heads and cell-substrate contacts in fixed tissue sections. For short-term use, keep refrigerated; for longer-term storage, aliquot and freeze at –20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Sodium azide is included as a microbial preservative, so the reagent is not intended for live-cell work.

From Antibodies.com, this primary antibody pairs naturally with a total-cortactin loading control and other Src-pathway phospho-readouts when dissecting actin-driven migratory and invasive behavior across cell lines and tissue specimens.
