From Antibodies.com, this affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 464–468 (P-V-Y-E-T) of the human CORTACTIN protein, allowing it to recognize endogenous levels of total cortactin regardless of phosphorylation state at the surrounding tyrosine. Supplied as a 50 µl liquid at 1.0 mg/mL in phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the unconjugated antibody is recommended for Western blotting at 1:500–1:1000 and for immunohistochemistry at 1:50–1:100, with a predicted band of approximately 85 kDa. Reactivity has been validated on Human and Mouse samples, and the target is also known by the synonyms Amplaxin, CTTN, EMS1 and Src substrate cortactin (Uniprot Q14247), a cytoplasmic actin-binding protein frequently overexpressed in breast cancer and head-and-neck squamous cell carcinomas. For routine handling the Antibodies.com vial is shipped cold at 4 °C and should be aliquoted and frozen at –20 °C upon arrival, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve performance. The polyclonal format, rabbit host and epitope-specific affinity purification make the antibody well suited for studies of cytoskeletal remodeling, invadopodia formation and Src-family signaling pathways in cell biology and oncology research.
