Gap junction channels assembled from Connexin 43 (Cx43, encoded by GJA1) mediate direct intercellular coupling in excitable and epithelial tissues, and the protein is the principal substrate for PKA- and PKC-driven phosphorylation that controls channel gating. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against a synthetic peptide centred on residue R361 of the human Cx43 C-terminal cytoplasmic tail, and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse and rat samples. Supplied as a 50 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the antiserum is widely used in studies of cardiac arrhythmia, epidermal wound healing, astrocyte biology and lens fibre differentiation, where Cx43 remodelling is a hallmark of disease and repair. The C-terminal epitope at R361 lies downstream of the regulatory phosphosites Ser368, Ser279 and Ser282, enabling parallel assessment of total Cx43 alongside phospho-specific reagents on the same blot or tissue section. For best results, store refrigerated and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity.
