Anti-Connexin 43 Antibody

Raised in rabbit against Connexin 43 (GJA1), this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes the gap junction protein most abundantly expressed in cardiac intercalated discs, astrocytic networks, and a broad range of epithelial tissues. Connexin 43 assembles into hexameric connexons that dock between adjacent cells to form intercellular channels, and altered Cx43 expression or phosphorylation is studied in models of cardiac arrhythmia, wound healing, and tumor progression.

Supplied as 100 µl of liquid at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the reagent is unconjugated and validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples. Storage at -20 °C in single-use aliquots is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles; for short-term use the vial may be refrigerated. The antibody detects the approximately 43 kDa gap junction band in immunoblots and produces characteristic membranous and plaque-like staining patterns in fixed tissue sections.
