This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the gap junction protein Connexin-26 (GJB2), a ~26 kDa transmembrane channel component expressed in cochlear epithelium, keratinocytes, hepatocytes, and placental tissue. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation, the antibody is validated for Western blot and ELISA workflows and has been confirmed to recognize the human, mouse, and rat orthologs, supporting comparative studies of auditory and epithelial biology.

Gap junctions formed by Connexin-26 mediate direct intercellular exchange of ions, second messengers, and small metabolites under 1 kDa, and GJB2 loss-of-function mutations are the most frequent genetic cause of non-syndromic sensorineural hearing loss worldwide. Researchers use this reagent to probe Cx26 expression and localization in inner ear development, skin barrier function, and hepatic gap junction remodeling, as well as to characterize mutant forms associated with syndromic deafness such as Vohwinkel syndrome and Keratitis-Ichthyosis-Deafness syndrome.

Each vial contains 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum suitable for immunoblotting of cell and tissue lysates and for antigen detection in ELISA-format assays. Storage at -20 °C in working aliquots is recommended to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles. For research use only.
