Anti-COMT Antibody

Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated polyclonal antiserum, this Antibodies.com reagent targets catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) and is validated for Western blot and immunocytochemistry workflows. The antibody recognizes an epitope conserved across human, mouse and rat COMT, making it suitable for cross-species studies of catecholamine and estrogen metabolism. Provided at 1 mg/mL in a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) formulation containing 0.05% sodium azide, approximately pH 7.2, the product is supplied as a 50 µl liquid aliquot and is affinity-purified by antigen-specific chromatography. Recommended starting dilutions are 1:500–1:1,000 for Western blotting and 1:50–1:200 for ICC/IF, with THP-1 and 293T cells listed as positive controls. The polyclonal IgG host response helps ensure robust recognition of multiple epitopes within the COMT sequence, supporting detection of the ~28–30 kDa membrane-bound (MB-COMT) and soluble (S-COMT) isoforms. For short-term use the vial should be kept at 4 °C; for longer term storage, aliquot and freeze at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
