Affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targeting human COMP (Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein), a 524 kDa pentameric extracellular matrix glycoprotein that organises collagen fibril networks in articular cartilage, tendon, ligament, and synovial tissue. Each vial contains 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples.

COMP is a marker of cartilage homeostasis and a focus of skeletal dysplasia research: dominantly inherited COMP mutations cause pseudoachondroplasia and multiple epiphyseal dysplasia, while circulating COMP fragments are tracked as biomarkers of joint degradation in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis studies. The reagent is used to visualise COMP deposition in cartilage sections, characterise matrix remodelling in tendon injury models, and probe processing of COMP fragments in conditioned cell culture media.

The polyclonal pool broadens epitope coverage along the COMP monomer, useful for mapping degradation fragments and comparing donor samples. Because the preparation is unconjugated, researchers can pair it with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-tagged secondary reagents for chromogenic IHC, immunofluorescence, or Western blot detection workflows.
