COL4A1 encodes the alpha-1 chain of type IV collagen, one of the most abundant structural proteins of the basement membrane that underlies epithelial and endothelial cell layers throughout the body. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against human COL4A1 and has been validated for use in western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows. The antibody cross-reacts with mouse orthologs, supporting translational comparisons between human patient samples and murine disease models, including investigations of COL4A1-related small vessel disease, HANAC syndrome, and hereditary porencephaly. Each vial contains 100 µl of antisera, sufficient for multiple rounds of membrane probing or dozens of tissue sections on slides. Because the antibody is unconjugated, researchers can pair it with their own HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-labeled secondary reagents depending on assay design. The reagent is well-suited to staining basement membrane structures in tissues such as mouse kidney glomeruli and cerebral vasculature, supporting studies of extracellular matrix organization and vascular biology. For long-term use, aliquot the antisera and store frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles.
