Cofilin is an ~19 kDa actin-binding protein of the ADF/cofilin family that severs and depolymerizes filaments at the pointed end of F-actin, driving the cytoskeletal turnover required for lamellipodial protrusion and directed cell migration. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the cofilin target and cross-reacts with human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting comparative work in cultured mammalian cells and rodent tissue. Validated uses include western blot for resolving the monomer band and tracking inactivation by phosphorylation at Ser3, the regulatory site controlled by LIM kinase and dephosphorylated by slingshot phosphatases, immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections, immunofluorescence for visualizing cofilin distribution at the leading edge of migrating cells, and ELISA. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid antiserum in a vial, sufficient for multiple blotting or staining experiments, and is intended for research use only.
