Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against cofilin (Ab-3) and supplied as a 50 µl aliquot at 1.0 mg/mL in phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. The unconjugated antibody detects endogenous levels of the total cofilin protein (also known as CFL1, CFL, cofilin-1 or p18, with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 19 kDa) in samples of human, mouse and rat origin, and is validated for Western blotting at a recommended dilution of 1:500–1:1000 and for immunohistochemistry at 1:50–1:100. The immunogen corresponds to a synthetic peptide spanning residues 1–5 (M-A-S-G-V) of human cofilin, and the antiserum was produced by immunizing rabbits with the peptide–KLH conjugate before being affinity-purified on epitope-specific peptide. The product ships at 4 °C; upon receipt it should be aliquoted and stored at –20 °C, with repeated freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity. Intended for research use only and not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications, this polyclonal reagent is well suited to studies of actin cytoskeleton dynamics, cytoskeletal remodelling and related signalling pathways across a broad range of cell and tissue contexts. A 100 µl format is also available for laboratories requiring a larger working volume.
