Calponin 1 (CNN1) is a smooth muscle-specific actin-binding protein that modulates contractile function in differentiated visceral and vascular smooth muscle cells. This rabbit polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against CNN1 and validated for western blot detection of the endogenous protein in lysates from human, mouse, and rat samples. It is supplied for research use only and is not approved for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.

The reagent is provided as a 100 µl volume at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 15 mM sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. Sodium azide is included as a preservative. The unconjugated IgG preparation can be paired with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies for chemiluminescent or fluorescent western blot workflows, where it produces a discrete band near the 34 kDa mature calponin molecular weight. Refrigerated storage in the original vial preserves antibody activity through the manufacturer's stated shelf life.

Because CNN1 expression is a hallmark of smooth muscle lineages, this antibody supports studies of cardiovascular contractility, gastrointestinal motility, myometrial biology, and vascular smooth muscle remodeling in pathological settings. Researchers also use it to characterize smooth muscle contributions within tumor stroma and to distinguish differentiated smooth muscle populations from other mesenchymal cell types in cell-based assays.
