Produced in rabbit hosts as an unconjugated polyclonal IgG preparation, this Antibodies.com primary antibody reagent is supplied in a 200 µl vial and validated specifically for Western blot detection of the cyclic nucleotide-gated channel alpha-3 (CNGA3) subunit in human, mouse, and rat samples. The CNGA3 protein forms the pore-forming alpha component of cone-specific cyclic nucleotide-gated channels in the retina, opening in response to cGMP binding to sustain the dark current that initiates visual signaling in cone photoreceptors.

Investigators in retinal biology and ophthalmology use this reagent to characterize expression and band-shift patterns of CNGA3 in transfected cell lines and retinal tissue lysates, supporting studies of inherited retinal disease including achromatopsia, progressive cone dystrophy, and selected Leber congenital amaurosis cases linked to loss-of-function variants in this channel subunit. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which improves signal recovery when channel abundance is low or samples contain partially degraded protein.

For handling, refrigerate the undiluted antibody between uses, work from single-use aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and dilute only into blocking or incubation buffer immediately before blotting. Brief centrifugation of the vial before opening is recommended to recover full volume.
