CMPK1 is a mitochondrial nucleoside monophosphate kinase that catalyzes phosphoryl transfer from ATP to CMP, UMP, and dCMP, generating the corresponding diphosphate nucleotides. This reaction is central to both de novo and salvage pathways of pyrimidine biosynthesis, supplying precursors for RNA and DNA production. Also known as UMP-CMP kinase or UMK, the enzyme is encoded on chromosome 1p33 and is imported into the mitochondrial matrix through an N-terminal targeting presequence, where it helps regenerate CDP and UDP pools for nucleic acid synthesis.

This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against CMPK1 and validated for Western blotting and immunofluorescence workflows. The antibody recognizes endogenous protein in samples of human, mouse, and rat origin, supporting cross-species expression studies in cell lysates, frozen tissue cryosections, and cultured lines. It is supplied as 100 µl of liquid in a vial, intended for research use only in laboratory applications investigating mitochondrial nucleotide metabolism, viral replication contexts in which CMPK1 activity is co-opted by certain RNA viruses, and cancer biology research where elevated pyrimidine synthesis fuels proliferation in rapidly dividing tumors.

For handling, aliquot upon arrival and store at -20 °C; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity and minimize titer loss across experiments.
