Raised against human clusterin (CLU), this rabbit polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µg of unconjugated IgG in a single vial and validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows. CLU is a ubiquitously expressed secreted glycoprotein implicated in apoptosis regulation, complement inhibition, lipid transport, and cellular stress responses.

In Western blot, the reagent detects the full-length clusterin precursor migrating near 75 kDa, along with the cleaved α and β subunits that appear around 35–40 kDa under reducing conditions, allowing researchers to monitor both the intact chaperone-like form and proteolytically processed fragments. For immunohistochemistry, the antibody stains formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, where clusterin expression is frequently examined in prostate, breast, ovarian, and colorectal tumor specimens as a marker of apoptotic and stress responses, and in neurodegenerative brain tissue where the protein accumulates in amyloid plaques characteristic of Alzheimer's disease.

Researchers also apply this reagent in studies of complement-mediated cell lysis, in investigations of seminal plasma and male reproductive biology, and in atherosclerosis models where clusterin interacts with apolipoproteins. The unconjugated format permits flexible pairing with custom fluorophore or enzyme labels, and the polyclonal nature supports detection of multiple clusterin isoforms across diverse sample preparations.
