Offered by Antibodies.com, this Mouse monoclonal [253/422] antibody is raised against Clostridium difficile Toxin A (TcdA), the ~308 kDa glucosyltransferase exotoxin that mediates antibiotic-associated colitis and pseudomembranous disease. The reagent is supplied as a purified monoclonal antibody in liquid form at a concentration of 1 mg/ml, with an unconjugated format suitable for direct labelling by the end user. The host species is Mouse and the isotype is IgG1, with clone ID 253/422 confirmed as the parent hybridoma line. The antibody has been validated for ELISA and IF (immunofluorescence) applications, with suggested working dilutions of 1–5 µg/ml for ELISA and 1–2 µg/ml for IF, and it reacts specifically with C. difficile Toxin A while showing no cross-reactivity with Cholera subunit A, Cholera toxin, Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A, H-LT, or P-LT. The immunogen used to generate the clone is C. difficile Toxin A itself, and reactivity is restricted to Clostridium difficile samples. Two formulation options are available from the supplier: the standard buffer (10 mM Phosphate Buffered Saline with 0.05% BSA and 0.05% Sodium Azide) and a BSA- and azide-free carrier-free version for sensitive downstream assays; both are purified by Protein A/G chromatography. The product is shipped at 4°C and, upon delivery, should be aliquoted and stored at –20°C, with freeze/thaw cycles avoided to preserve activity. As a research-use-only reagent, this Antibodies.com monoclonal provides a reliable tool for detecting Toxin A in ELISA and immunofluorescence workflows investigating C. difficile virulence and pathogenicity.
