The CLN3 gene encodes battenin, a multi-pass lysosomal membrane glycoprotein whose loss-of-function mutations cause juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (Batten disease), a fatal neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorder. Antibodies.com supplies this rabbit polyclonal anti-CLN3 reagent as 100 µl of unconjugated IgG, validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry across human, mouse, and rat samples. Investigators use it to track endogenous battenin expression and subcellular localization in neuronal cell lines, patient-derived fibroblasts carrying CLN3 mutations, and knock-out or knock-in mouse models that recapitulate disease pathology. The unconjugated format supports flexible pairing with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents depending on the assay readout. For western blot, lysates are resolved by SDS-PAGE and probed at working dilutions optimized for chemiluminescent detection, while immunohistochemistry on fixed brain or retinal sections supports mapping of CLN3 distribution in regions affected by neuroinflammation and lysosomal accumulation.
