This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com selectively detects the caspase-generated cleavage fragment of Lamin A that arises at aspartate 230, a hallmark event of programmed cell death. Produced in rabbit and supplied as 50 µl of an unconjugated 1 mg/ml stock in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples.

Lamin A is a key structural component of the nuclear lamina, and its proteolytic cleavage at D230 by caspase-6 during apoptosis destabilizes the nuclear envelope. The resulting ~28 kDa fragment is widely used in cell death research to monitor early-to-mid apoptotic progression, complementing readouts for caspase-3 activation and DNA fragmentation. Investigators studying tumor response to chemotherapeutics, neurodegeneration, and developmental cell elimination use this marker to distinguish apoptotic from necrotic cell populations in tissue sections and cell lysates.

For Western blot, lysates are separated on SDS-PAGE and probed with the unconjugated primary, followed by HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies for chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection. For immunohistochemistry, the antibody highlights condensed nuclei in cells undergoing apoptosis, with reduced signal in healthy tissue. Store the vial frozen at -20 °C in the supplied glycerol buffer to preserve activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles, and minimize light exposure during handling.
