Manufactured by Antibodies.com, this affinity-purified polyclonal reagent is raised in rabbit and selectively recognizes the cleaved fragment of Caspase-2 p18 generated adjacent to glycine 170. The immunogen is a synthetic peptide derived from the internal region of human Caspase-2 p18, and the antibody is supplied as an unconjugated liquid at a concentration of 1 mg/mL in PBS containing 50% glycerol, 0.5% BSA and 0.02% sodium azide. Each vial contains 50 µL of the preparation, which is intended for research use only and is for non-diagnostic, non-therapeutic applications. Validated applications on the product page list Western blot (WB) and ELISA, with the reagent confirmed for reactivity against human samples. The polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of the activated Caspase-2 p18 fragment rather than the full-length pro-caspase, making it a useful tool for researchers investigating apoptosis pathways and caspase activation events. For long-term integrity, the supplier recommends storage at –20 °C, where the product remains stable for up to one year. Routine handling should avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles, and aliquoting upon first use is advisable to preserve antibody performance across multiple experiments. As with all affinity-purified polyclonal sera from this supplier, the reagent is affinity-chromatography purified from rabbit antiserum using the epitope-specific immunogen, ensuring high specificity for the cleaved p18 fragment while minimizing cross-reactivity with the inactive zymogen.
