Claudin-4 forms paracellular strands within epithelial sheets and is frequently overexpressed in ovarian, breast, pancreatic, and gastric carcinomas, while it also functions as the high-affinity receptor for Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin (CPE), a feature exploited in targeted-toxin delivery and tumor-imaging studies. The antibody is supplied as 50 µl of liquid and is validated for Western blot on cell lysates and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, where it produces membrane-localized staining at the apical junctional complex.
