This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets Claudin-4, a 22 kDa transmembrane tight-junction protein of the claudin family that seals the paracellular space between adjacent epithelial cells. Produced by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated, polyclonal reagent, it is supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot and validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows in human samples.

Claudin-4 is frequently overexpressed in several epithelial-derived cancers, including pancreatic adenocarcinoma, ovarian cancer, and certain gastric and breast tumors, making it a useful marker in tumor biology and pathology studies. The antibody also supports investigation of epithelial barrier function in tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract, kidney tubules, and lung epithelium, where claudin-4 contributes to selective paracellular permeability.

For Western blot, the reagent produces a band near the expected molecular weight of approximately 22 kDa in cell lysates and tissue homogenates. In immunohistochemistry, it can be applied to formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections to visualize membrane-localized staining at cell-cell junctions, which is helpful for confirming tissue architecture and tight junction integrity. The unconjugated format allows researchers to pair the antibody with their preferred HRP, biotin, or fluorophore secondary detection system, supporting flexibility across imaging and chromogenic platforms.

Because the antibody is raised in rabbit and reactive with human claudin-4, it is well suited for translational research, biomarker validation, and studies comparing claudin-4 expression between normal and diseased tissues. Refrigerate the vial upon arrival to preserve reagent stability for routine bench use; aliquoting on first use is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles and protect binding activity over the product's shelf life.
