This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets Claudin-3, a ~23 kDa four-transmembrane-domain protein that forms the structural backbone of epithelial and endothelial tight junction strands. The unconjugated IgG is supplied as 100 µl liquid aliquot and is validated for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and ELISA workflows, supporting detection of endogenous human Claudin-3 in both denatured and native sample contexts.

Claudin-3 contributes to paracellular seal selectivity and barrier integrity in tissues such as renal tubule epithelium, intestinal mucosa, and the blood-brain barrier. Aberrant expression — both upregulation reported in ovarian, breast, and pancreatic carcinomas and loss during epithelial-mesenchymal transition — makes it a frequently studied marker in tumor biology, barrier-function research, and epithelial differentiation models.

As a polyclonal, the antibody recognizes multiple epitopes across the C-terminal cytoplasmic tail and extracellular loops, which can improve signal in IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections where single-epitope monoclonals sometimes fail. Store the vial at -20°C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light when handling the unconjugated format.

Reactivity is validated for human samples by Antibodies.com. Researchers working with rodent or other mammalian samples should perform an empirical check, as Claudin-3 is a highly conserved tight-junction protein whose sequence similarity does not guarantee antibody recognition across species.
