Anti-Claudin 2 Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets Claudin 2, a transmembrane tight junction protein belonging to the claudin family that seals paracellular spaces between adjacent epithelial cells. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µl volume, it is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows, with reactivity confirmed across Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

Claudin 2 expression is most prominent in kidney proximal tubule epithelium and along the intestinal epithelial lining, where the protein contributes to cation-permeable paracellular pathways that influence sodium and water flux. Researchers routinely apply this reagent to investigate epithelial barrier function, tight junction assembly, intestinal permeability, and renal reabsorption mechanisms, and to study altered claudin expression in gastrointestinal disease models, renal disorders, and certain epithelial-derived cancers where junction integrity is disrupted.

For Western blot, the antibody detects the roughly 22 kDa claudin 2 band in whole-cell or tissue lysates prepared from epithelial sources.
