Citrate synthase catalyzes the first committed step of the Krebs (TCA) cycle, condensing acetyl-CoA with oxaloacetate to form citrate within the mitochondrial matrix. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically detects the human mitochondrial isoform, enabling researchers to probe TCA cycle activity and mitochondrial content in cell and tissue samples.

Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, the reagent is widely adopted as a mitochondrial loading control alongside cytosolic reference proteins such as GAPDH and beta-actin, and supports immunostaining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Its polyclonal nature allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, while human-specific reactivity makes it appropriate for translational studies using patient-derived material.

Each vial contains 100 µg of affinity-purified IgG, suitable for downstream detection with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents. Typical research applications include investigation of mitochondrial biogenesis, oxidative phosphorylation, metabolic reprogramming in cancer, and characterization of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and metabolic disease models.
