CHOP (also known as GADD153 or DDIT3) is a 19 kDa transcription factor that serves as a downstream effector of the unfolded protein response, and antibodies targeting its N-terminal region are widely used as markers of endoplasmic reticulum stress in cell biology and disease-model research. The Q26 designation indicates the immunogen was a synthetic peptide corresponding to a region in the N-terminal transactivation domain that is conserved between the human and murine orthologs.
This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is provided in a 100 µl liquid vial format ready to be diluted into standard immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows. The antibody is validated for western blot, IHC, and IF on samples from both human and mouse origins, supporting comparative work across species in fixed tissue sections and cultured cell lines.
Endogenous CHOP expression is normally low in unstressed cells but rises sharply when cells accumulate misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum, lose calcium homeostasis, or undergo oxidative injury. This makes the antibody a useful readout for PERK-eIF2α-ATF4-CHOP signaling in models of neurodegeneration, metabolic disease, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. Pair it with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies appropriate to the chosen detection method. For storage, keep refrigerated and protect from light to preserve activity, and prepare small working aliquots on first use to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the stock vial. Antibodies.com provides supporting validation data with each lot to assist with establishing working dilutions for western blot, IHC, and IF applications.
