Anti-Chk1 (S291) Antibody

Manufactured for Antibodies.com and originally developed by Bioworld Technology, this affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 261–310 of human Chk1 and recognises the Chk1 (S291) epitope, detecting endogenous levels of the serine/threonine checkpoint kinase Chk1 (~56 kDa). The antibody is supplied as 50 µl of an unconjugated, polyclonal IgG preparation at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, with a reported purity of greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE. It is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications and has been verified to react with human, mouse and rat samples, making it suitable for cell-cycle and DNA-damage checkpoint research in a range of model systems. Chk1 and the related kinase Chk2 act as essential components of the G2 DNA damage checkpoint by phosphorylating Cdc25 phosphatases in response to genotoxic stress, thereby blocking mitotic entry until repair is complete; this reagent therefore provides a convenient tool for tracking Chk1 protein expression and regulation across these species. For handling, the supplier recommends short-term storage at 4 °C with aliquoting and long-term storage at –20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze–thaw cycles, and notes that the product is intended for research use only and not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
