Targeting human chitinase 1, a secreted 50 kDa chitinolytic enzyme expressed by activated macrophages and tissue-resident phagocytes, this reagent from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal Ig preparation intended for researchers studying innate immunity, lysosomal storage disorders, and chronic inflammatory disease. CHIT1 hydrolyses chitin polymers and is monitored clinically as a plasma biomarker of macrophage burden in conditions including Gaucher disease, where markedly elevated chitotriosidase activity reflects substrate-laden macrophages, and as a readout in studies of antifungal and antiparasitic defence.

Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples, the antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant, packaged in a single-use vial format suitable for short-term storage at 4 °C and longer-term storage at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw exposure of the polyclonal pool. The unconjugated format supports flexible detection chemistries, including HRP- and biotin-streptavidin secondary systems for chromogenic IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, and standard enhanced chemiluminescence Western blot workflows on cell and tissue lysates. Researchers working on Gaucher disease, sarcoidosis, macrophage polarization, fungal infection models, or respiratory inflammation can use this reagent to track CHIT1 protein expression in tissue lysates, bronchoalveolar lavage samples, and cultured macrophage models.
