CHI3L1 (Chitinase 3-like 1), also referred to as YKL-40, is a 40 kDa secreted glycoprotein widely investigated as a biomarker of inflammation, tissue remodeling, and tumor progression. The reagent from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal raised against CHI3L1 and validated for Western Blot in human, mouse, and rat samples. Supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (approx. pH 7.2) with 15 mM sodium azide, the antibody is packaged in a 100 µl vial sized for standard immunoblotting workloads. Investigators studying respiratory disease, hepatic injury, glioblastoma, breast carcinoma, and arthritic joint disease have used anti-YKL-40 immunoblots to monitor expression in cell lysates and tissue homogenates. Pair the primary with an HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary and image by chemiluminescence on PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes; refrigerate the vial, protect it from light, and minimize freeze-thaw cycles to keep the polyclonal reagent binding-active across many runs. Polyclonal recognition broadens epitope coverage so denatured CHI3L1 in reducing SDS-PAGE gels is reliably detected.
