Chromogranin A (encoded by the CHGA gene) is an acidic 68 kDa glycoprotein of the granin family that is co-packaged with peptide hormones and catecholamines into the dense-core secretory granules of neuroendocrine cells. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against CHGA and validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human tissue. In immunohistochemistry it is routinely applied as a pan-neuroendocrine marker to highlight neuroendocrine differentiation in pheochromocytoma, carcinoid tumors, pancreatic islet cell neoplasms, medullary thyroid carcinoma, and small cell lung carcinoma. For Western blot, the reagent detects full-length chromogranin A and its processing derivatives such as parastatin, vasostatin, and pancreastatin in cell lysates and tumor homogenates. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum and is reactive with human antigen; cross-reactivity with other species has not been established by the manufacturer and should be confirmed empirically. For best results, follow the storage conditions printed on the vial, prepare working aliquots, and limit freeze-thaw cycles of the stock to preserve binding activity. Pair this primary antibody with an appropriate HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagent for chromogenic or fluorescence detection.
