CHCHD4 is a highly conserved mitochondrial intermembrane space protein that serves as the central component of the MIA40/CHCHD4 disulfide relay import pathway. This Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal antibody, raised against the CHCHD4 target, is supplied as a 200 µl volume of unconjugated IgG and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications on human samples.

The reagent detects the endogenous CHCHD4 protein, which functions as a thiol-oxidoreductase that catalyses the oxidative folding of cysteine-rich precursor proteins translocated into the mitochondrial intermembrane space. CHCHD4 contains a characteristic twin CX9C motif and cooperates with the sulfhydryl oxidase GFER (also known as ALR) on the outer surface of the mitochondrial inner membrane to drive disulfide bond transfer to incoming substrates, including the small TIM chaperones and respiratory complex subunits.

Researchers investigating mitochondrial protein import, oxidative folding, redox homeostasis, and disorders linked to mitochondrial biogenesis use this polyclonal reagent to characterise CHCHD4 expression in cell lines and tissue sections. The polyclonal format provides broader epitope coverage for robust detection of the human protein, and the unconjugated formulation allows flexible downstream labelling with fluorophore or enzyme conjugates selected by the user.
