This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets Charged multivesicular body protein 2a (CHMP2A), a core subunit of the ESCRT-III complex that drives membrane scission events during multivesicular body biogenesis, cytokinesis, and viral budding. Supplied as 100 µg of unconjugated, affinity-purified IgG, the reagent is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human samples and serves neuroscience, membrane-trafficking, and cell-division laboratories.

CHMP2A polymerizes into helical filaments on endosomal membranes, where it recruits the VPS4 ATPase for filament disassembly, and the same protein also contributes to nuclear envelope resealing during mitotic exit. Biallelic loss-of-function mutations in the CHMP2A gene cause autosomal recessive pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 8, a severe neurodevelopmental disorder, which makes this reagent relevant to studies on neurodegeneration, endosomal sorting, and broader ESCRT pathway biology.

For Western blot, CHMP2A resolves near its expected molecular weight of approximately 25 kDa, though post-translational modification and gel conditions can shift the apparent band. The polyclonal format offers broad epitope coverage for probing conserved regions across human tissues. Aliquot upon receipt to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and store the vial refrigerated for active use.
