This polyclonal reagent, raised in rabbits, recognizes the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR), the cAMP-regulated chloride channel whose loss-of-function mutations cause cystic fibrosis. Marketed by Antibodies.com as a primary antibody for research use only, it is supplied as a 100 µl volume of unconjugated serum and has been validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA workflows.

The reagent shows reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling comparative studies between model systems and human-derived tissue. Because the antibody is polyclonal, it targets multiple epitopes on the CFTR protein, an advantage when probing full-length channels as well as processed or mutant variants where single antibody binding sites may be disrupted. In western blot applications, the reagent can be used to monitor CFTR protein maturation, while in immunohistochemistry it supports localization studies in airway, intestinal, and reproductive epithelia where the channel is normally enriched.

Aliquoting upon first use and avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles is recommended to preserve binding activity over the working shelf life of the reagent. The unconjugated format also allows researchers to couple the antibody to their preferred reporter, whether a fluorophore for immunofluorescence, horseradish peroxidase for chromogenic detection, or biotin for streptavidin-based amplification in staining and ELISA workflows.
