Anti-CFI Antibody

Raised in rabbit, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com specifically detects Complement Factor I, a serine protease that downregulates the complement cascade by cleaving C3b and C4b. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid at approximately 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at pH 7.2, and is validated for Western blot on lysates from human, mouse, and rat origins.

Because CFI keeps the alternative and classical pathways in check, immunoblotting with this reagent supports research into atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, age-related macular degeneration, C3 glomerulopathy, and the recurrent pyogenic infections that mark inherited factor I deficiency. The polyclonal format captures multiple epitopes across the heavy and light chains of factor I, which helps maintain signal when samples contain partially degraded protein or single-nucleotide variants.

Storage and handling: keep the vial refrigerated and protected from light; the azide preservative also inhibits microbial growth in the buffer. For short bench sessions the aliquot may sit at room temperature, but repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to preserve antibody titer.
