This polyclonal antibody was raised in rabbit against human carboxylesterase 1 (CES1), a serine esterase expressed predominantly in liver tissue and enterocytes that catalyzes the hydrolysis of ester and amide bonds in xenobiotics, therapeutic drugs, and endogenous lipid substrates. The reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/mL in PBS buffer containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and the standard 100 µl pack size supports multiple western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments.

By reactivity, this antibody recognizes endogenous CES1 in human, mouse, and rat samples, enabling cross-species studies of hepatic drug metabolism, toxicology screening, and pharmacokinetic research. Validated applications include western blot for detection of the CES1 polypeptide in tissue lysates and immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections for cellular localization in liver and small intestine.

The unconjugated format allows the reagent to be paired with a secondary reporter chosen by the user, including HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-conjugated anti-rabbit immunoglobulin reagents. For long-term storage, keep the vial frozen at -20 degrees C; aliquoting on first use is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The 0.1% sodium azide in the formulation provides microbial protection for routine handling at 4 °C between experiments.
