This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets human carboxyl ester lipase (CEL) and is supplied as a 200 µl aliquot. The antibody is validated for Western blot detection and ships without any fluorophore or enzyme tag, allowing researchers to choose their own secondary detection chemistry for immunoblotting workflows.

CEL encodes a bile salt-stimulated lipase expressed in pancreatic acinar cells and secreted into the duodenum, where it contributes to the hydrolysis of dietary cholesteryl esters and triglycerides. The protein has been studied extensively in the context of maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY type 8), where CEL variable-number tandem repeat (VNTR) variants and carboxyl ester lipase frameshift mutations have been linked to beta-cell dysfunction and exocrine pancreatic disease. Because the CEL locus is highly polymorphic in humans, antibody-based detection in tissue lysates depends on reagents that recognize conserved regions of the protein rather than the repeat domain.

Produced in rabbit and affinity-purified as a polyclonal IgG, this reagent offers epitope diversity against multiple regions of the target protein. Investigators working on lipid metabolism, pancreatic exocrine function, or MODY-related diabetes pathways commonly use anti-CEL antibodies to confirm expression in cell line lysates and tissue homogenates by Western blot. The unconjugated format also makes the antibody compatible with downstream conjugation to HRP, biotin, or fluorescent labels, depending on the experimental design, and the 200 µl volume supports multiple blot exposures and optimization experiments.
