Cysteine dioxygenase type 1 (CDO1) is a non-heme iron(II)-dependent dioxygenase that catalyzes the oxidative conversion of L-cysteine to cysteine sulfinic acid, the first and rate-limiting step in taurine biosynthesis and the dominant pathway for cysteine catabolism in mammals.

This polyclonal primary antibody, distributed by Antibodies.com, was raised in rabbit against mouse CDO1 and is supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated IgG in a single vial for western blot detection of the endogenous 23 kDa protein. The host species is rabbit, the clonality is polyclonal, the isotype is IgG, and the conjugate type is unconjugated, leaving the end user free to pair the reagent downstream with HRP, fluorophore, or biotin-labeled secondary antibodies.

Typical workflows begin with mouse tissue or cell lysates separated by SDS-PAGE, followed by immunoblotting for CDO1 at its expected migration near 23 kDa. Store the vial at -20 degrees C in working aliquots to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and dilute into blocking buffer immediately before each use. Researchers apply this reagent to studies of sulfur amino acid metabolism, hepatic and renal cysteine handling, neuronal cysteine homeostasis, and cancer epigenetics, where frequent CDO1 promoter hypermethylation has been documented in breast, gastric, colorectal, and lung tumor tissue.
