This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets cyclin-dependent kinase 9, a serine/threonine kinase that forms the catalytic core of the positive transcription elongation factor b (P-TEFb) complex. CDK9 phosphorylates the C-terminal domain of RNA polymerase II, releasing paused polymerases to drive productive mRNA synthesis, and it also acts as the cellular cofactor that HIV-1 Tat co-opts during viral transcription.

Raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the antibody ships as a 100 µl vial ready for standard immunodetection. Recommended applications include western blot, immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue, and immunofluorescence on cultured cells, with reactivity listed for human, mouse, and rat samples.

Researchers apply this reagent in studies of transcriptional elongation, cell-cycle progression, HIV latency, and cancer biology, where elevated CDK9 activity has been documented in MYC-driven tumors and MLL-rearranged leukemias. Store aliquots at -20 °C and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. For research use only.
