The CDK5 cyclin-dependent kinase is a serine/threonine kinase best known for its neuron-specific roles in cytoskeletal remodeling, neuronal migration, and synaptic plasticity. Unlike canonical cyclin-dependent kinases, CDK5 is activated by the neuronal regulators p35 (CDK5R1) and p39 (CDK5R2), and its aberrant activity through p25 cleavage is heavily implicated in tau hyperphosphorylation in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative processes. This unconjugated rabbit monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised against CDK5 and has been validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation workflows using human, mouse, and rat samples. The reagent is supplied as a 200 µL volume of IgG isotype, providing ample material for multiple experimental runs.

On denaturing SDS-PAGE, CDK5 resolves at approximately 33 kDa, which gives a clean and easily identifiable band in western blot applications. The antibody is intended for research use only, supporting studies in neuroscience, oncology, and cell signaling where CDK5-mediated phosphorylation of substrates such as tau, neurofilaments, and signaling adaptors is of interest. For best performance, aliquot the antibody upon arrival and store at -20°C, protected from light, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles that can compromise binding affinity. Each lot is affinity-purified to deliver consistent specificity in detecting endogenous CDK5 levels across lysate, fixed tissue, and immunoprecipitated samples.
