Probing cyclin-dependent kinase 5 in neuronal and tumor samples, this unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl in a vial and validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat material.

CDK5 is a proline-directed serine/threonine kinase best known for its roles in cortical lamination, synaptic plasticity, and the tau hyperphosphorylation seen in neurodegenerative disease models. It is activated through binding to its regulatory partners p35 and p39, and aberrant cleavage to the p25 fragment drives hyperactivation that has been linked to neuronal death in Alzheimer's research.

Investigators in neuroscience, oncology, and cell-signaling labs use this reagent to monitor endogenous kinase expression, track redistribution under stress or drug treatment, and compare control versus disease tissue. Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with HRP- or fluorophore-labeled secondary antibodies of the researcher's choice, supporting chromogenic DAB staining, standard chemiluminescent immunoblotting, and multiplex fluorescence IHC. The polyclonal format improves the likelihood of recognizing the kinase across isoforms and post-translational states, useful when comparing lysates or fixed sections from treated versus untreated samples.

Aliquot on first use and refrigerate to preserve titer; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles when the reagent is needed across long studies.
