Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) is a proline-directed serine/threonine kinase expressed predominantly in post-mitotic neurons, where it phosphorylates substrates including tau, neurofilaments, and synaptic proteins. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes the Cdk5 target and is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA applications across Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. Supplied in a vial of 100 µl polyclonal antiserum, the reagent yields a discrete band near the expected ~33 kDa molecular weight by immunoblotting and produces consistent chromogenic labeling on fixed brain sections. Investigators studying neurodegeneration, tauopathy, neuronal differentiation, or kinase signaling pathways can incorporate this reagent into multi-species experimental designs using standard HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies. For storage, keep the vial refrigerated at -20°C in working aliquots to minimize freeze-thaw cycles; the product is intended for research use only and is not cleared for clinical or diagnostic use.
