Anti-CDK5 Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5), supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol by Antibodies.com. CDK5 is a ~33 kDa serine/threonine kinase essential for neuronal migration, cortical layering, and synaptic plasticity during central nervous system development, and it remains active in post-mitotic neurons where it phosphorylates substrates such as tau and neurofilament proteins. Aberrant CDK5 activity, driven by calpain-mediated cleavage of its activators p35 and p39 to generate p25 and p29 fragments, has been implicated in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and in several cancers including glioblastoma and medulloblastoma. This unconjugated reagent is validated for western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) on human, mouse, and rat samples.
